There’s a moment in the mountains, just as the sun comes up, when the night hasn’t quite let go yet. The last stars are still twinkling overhead, the air is cold and clean, and everything is waking up at once. This piece is my take on that moment.
At the top, the sky is still a dreamy lavender blue, sprinkled with tiny stars and a few bright sparkles. Puffy, soft-edged clouds float across it. Lower down, the colors warm up into peach and coral pink, and a glowing yellow sun rises in the middle, wrapped in a soft golden halo with a cloud drifting across its edge.
Beneath the sunrise, a long ridge of snowy gray mountains stretches across the whole scene, with rounded green bushes tucked along the foothills. In the grass up front, a mother deer and her spotted fawn stand face to face, taking a quiet break together before the day really starts.
I painted this one digitally, building up soft, brushy textures in the clouds, mountains, and grass so it still has a hand-painted feel.
It’s a gentle, peaceful piece for a nursery, a kid’s room, a bedroom, or a cabin or lake-house wall. The lavender, peach, and green go well with soft neutrals, light wood, and woodland or nature decor. It also makes a sweet baby shower or new-mom gift, thanks to the mama deer and her fawn.
Choosing a size
This piece is taller than it is wide, so it hangs vertically.
- 5×7: a small piece for a shelf, nightstand, or nursery dresser, or a gift tucked in with a card. Fits a standard 5×7 frame. The top and bottom are trimmed slightly to fit this shape.
- 6×8: shows the full artwork with nothing cropped. Fits a 6×8 frame, or an 8×10 frame with a mat.
