This piece is about learning to love your own body, and what happens when you finally let yourself.
A woman kneels with her chin lifted and her eyes closed, one hand resting on top of her head and the other reaching down to touch the water in front of her. She’s drawn in soft graphite pencil with long, loose hair, and the only color on her is a touch of gold on her briefs. She isn’t posing for anyone. She’s simply at ease in her own skin.
Beneath her, the paper is flooded with a heavy wash of deep blue that darkens to near-black at the edges. That’s the weight of depression and negative thoughts, the voice that says your body isn’t good enough. But behind and around her, bright blooms of pink, violet, orange, and green are pouring in. Those are the colorful thoughts of self-love, and they’re washing the darkness away.
Watercolor felt like the right medium for this idea, because it moves and bleeds on its own. The colors run into each other with soft, uneven edges, a lot like healing does.
It’s a meaningful piece for a bedroom, a bathroom, a dressing area, or anywhere you get ready for the day and could use a reminder to be kind to yourself. It’s also a thoughtful gift for a friend on their own self-love journey, or for anyone who has worked their way out of a dark season.
Choosing a size
This piece is tall and slim, so these sizes match its shape. A thin strip is trimmed from the sides to fit.

Caring for your print
Frame it behind glass or acrylic to keep dust and fingerprints off, and hang it out of direct sunlight so the colors stay bright.
